Adjunct Professor of Financial Planning
Kimberly Turner, PhD, serves as an adjunct professor of financial planning in The Irwin Graduate School at The American College of Financial Services. She also serves as an adjunct professor for the California Lutheran University School of Management and as founder and COO of Retirement Planning Doctors, LLC, where she specializes in creating retirement plans for doctors.
Turner entered the financial industry as a real estate developer in 1998, when she became broker/owner of a top-producing multi-office award-winning firm along with owner/managing partner of a real estate title company and a mortgage company. After the Great Recession, she transitioned into the capital market and risk management sectors in 2009 to help clients build more diverse wealth portfolios.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, Turner earned a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College of Financial Services. In 2019, she became the first African-American woman to be awarded a PhD in financial planning and retirement planning from The College. Previously, she was in practice as a physician assistant after her interest in healthcare and affordable medicine led her to study health and science at the University of Florida.
Turner holds numerous licenses and registrations in real estate, mortgages, investments, and insurance, including the following financial industry designations: CFP® Certified Financial Professional (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), and is Certified in Long-term Care® (CLTC®).
Turner also holds the Series 7, Series 65, Life and Health, and Property and Casualty Insurance licenses. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), a board member of the Tampa-Bay Chapter of FPA, and an alumni board member for The College. Turner is also certified by the CFP Board to teach the CFP® Certification Education curriculum.
